"The Forge" - fire book. Reading it and reflecting over it, many souls can get to a smithy of divine Love and ignite zealous pressing forward to sanctity and apostleship. The desire of its author - St. Josemaria Escriva (1902-1975), clearly reflected in the Foreword was that: «As to me not to take thy soul - pure gold - to place it in a smithy hearth; to process its fire and a hammer, to make of this protogenic gold a magnificent necklace and to offer my God, thy God?»

"The Forge" consists of 1055 points: they are intended for reflexion and distributed on thirteen heads. Many of these points have obviously autobiographical character. They have arisen from the records concerning by 1930 years when founder Opus Dei conducted something like a diary (to name faster it it is possible spiritual writing-books). In these writing-books it described incidents, in which to it action of the God in his soul opened to recollect and reflect on them in the prays. He also wrote down events and histories from a daily life, always aspiring to take from them any spiritual lesson.

The central theme of "The Forge" is bodily expressed in such words: «Jesus Christ Life if we store to It fidelity, somehow will repeat in a life of each of us, as in internal process - in sanctification, and in external behaviour». This book represents friendly, fatherlike advice to souls which have decided to concern the Christian calling with all gravity.
